What is SaltAire by Rhinaris ?

SaltAire by Rhinaris is a pre-mixed, hypertonic, saline nasal wash. SaltAire by Rhinaris helps provide relief for those who suffer from nasal congestion, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, or who are exposed to environmental pollutants.

How does SaltAire by Rhinaris work?

SaltAire by Rhinaris is a pre-mixed saline nasal wash that gently flushes out dust, mold, pollens and other inhaled irritants known to contribute to allergy, sinus infection and other respiratory problems. Sinus cleansing with a hypertonic solution increases mucociliary clearance and enhances the upper respiratory tract’s natural filtration system. SaltAire by Rhinaris comes packaged in an easy-to-use, manually operated pump bottle that gives the user easy fingertip-control over the flow of the hypertonic solution. Unlike nasal sprays, the SaltAire by Rhinaris dispenser delivers the volume and rinsing intensity necessary for the hypertonic solution to comfortably penetrate and cleanse the entire nasal cavity.

Is SaltAire by Rhinaris safe?

Yes, when used as directed. The product’s main ingredients are water and salt, both of which are naturally occurring compounds found within the body. The practice of saline nasal cleansing has been traced back to ancient times. Today, rinsing with saltwater is still a popular method of treating head colds. Studies published in respected medical journals support the use of saline nasal wash with a hypertonic solution for sinus and allergy problems.
Warning:
  • Discontinue use of this product and contact a physician if you experience nasal irritation, ear pressure or ear pain.
  • Use of this dispenser by more than one person is not recommended as it may spread infection.
  • Consult a physician before using this product if you are on a sodium restricted diet, pregnant or for children under 8 years of age.

What is the difference between high pressure aerosol nasal sprays and nasal washes?

The key to nasal rinsing is volume. The volume of a nasal wash, will push the solution up through one nostril, continue up over the septum and flow out through the other nostril, removing irritants from the nose. Volume is not an attribute of aerosol sprays. Their key aspect is their moisturizing power, not their cleansing power, as they won’t wash away the extra mucus, mold and allergens found in the nose. For a more effective solution, we recommend a two step program, using the cleansing power of SaltAire by Rhinaris along with the moisturizers of Rhinaris Mist.

Does the medical community recognize nasal cleansing as an effective treatment?

Yes. The benefits of saline nasal cleansing with a hypertonic solution have been extensively documented in medical literature and the results of relevant scientific studies have been published in multiple otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), allergy, pediatric and pulmonary medical journals. How does SaltAire by Rhinaris differ from other over-the-counter saline nasal washes?

Most nasal saline washes contain less than 1% salt, are acidic and/or are delivered into the nose as a mist or spray. SaltAire by Rhinaris is a hypertonic solution, meaning it contains a higher concentration of salt but is pH balanced, making it gentle and non-irritating. In addition, SaltAire by Rhinaris is a saline nasal wash, not a spray. Its award-winning applicator bottle provides the liquid volume and rinsing intensity necessary to fully cleanse the entire nasal cavity.

What is the difference between a hypertonic solution and an isotonic solution?

A hypertonic solution has a higher salt concentration than the body fluids (higher than 0.9% saline). Studies have shown that rinsing with a hypertonic solution has several benefits such as: effectively thinning thick secretions, improving the filtering of the nose, removing the majority of allergens and shrinking swollen membranes.

An isotonic solution has the same concentration of salt as the body fluids (0.9% saline). This type of solution is typically milder than a hypertonic solution, and therefore does not provide as many benefits.

What are the ingredients in SaltAire by Rhinaris ?

The SaltAire by Rhinaris saline nasal wash is a drug-free pH balanced formula that contains significantly more salt but is less acidic than other commercially available nasal washes. The hypertonic solution is a mixture of purified water, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, dibasic sodium phosphate, benzethonium chloride and trisodium EDTA. The ingredients are buffered to insure a gentle cleansing wash of the sinus cavities.

How common is sinutis?

More than 37 million Americans suffer from at least one episode of sinusitis each year. The prevalence of sinusitis has soared in the last decade; this is possibly due to the increase in population, urban sprawl and the increased resistance to antibiotics.

Does SaltAire by Rhinaris help those suffering from allergies?

Yes. The SaltAire hypertonic solution helps wash away pollen and dust that can cause allergies.

Can people on a salt restricted diet use SaltAire by Rhinaris ?

What is the difference between Rhinaris and other saline products?

Rhinaris nasal gel and mist contain only 0.2% sodium chloride (saline) and are formulated with polyethylene glycol (15%) and propylene glycol (20%). This ensures superior, long-lasting moisture and prevents the nasal passages from becoming dried out over time.

What are the benefits of using Rhinaris in conjunction with nasal corticosteroid therapy?

Rhinaris will hydrate and moisturize the nasal membrane, reducing the irritation and dryness caused by corticosteroid therapy. This increases the absorption of the corticosteroid, which can potentially reduce the need or dosage. To optimize the use of corticosteroids, use Rhinaris 5 minutes before administering the steroid in the morning and continue using Rhinaris as often as needed, up to 3-4 times daily.

Can petroleum jelly be used instead of Rhinaris to soothe dry nose?

Petroleum jelly should not be used to treat nasal dryness. It may impede the function of the nose by immobilizing the cilia (small hairs that help the nose get rid of foreign material and clean the incoming air). If small particles of petroleum jelly are inhaled from the nose they may deposit in the lungs and lead to a condition called lipid pneumonia. Since Rhinaris is a water-based product there is no risk of either one of these mishaps occurring.

Will Rhinaris cause a rebound effect?

No. Rhinaris is a non-medicated product and is not a decongestant. It is nasal moisturizer, and therefore will not cause the rebound effects of decongestants and is non-addictive. It is even gentle enough to use everyday.

Can anyone use Rhinaris?

There are absolutely no contraindications to the use of Rhinaris, unless someone is allergic or hypersensitive to one of its components. Rhinaris is the perfect product to relieve nasal dryness for pregnant women and for those who suffer from hypertension, diabetes, glaucoma or prostate enlargement.

Can people on oxygen therapy use Rhinaris?

Yes. Rhinaris will relieve the dryness caused by oxygen therapy and is safe to use as it is water based. As can happen with the use of such moisturizers as petroleum jelly, there is no risk of foreign particles depositing on the lungs which can lead to unnecessary side effects.

What are the side effects of Rhinaris?

Only people who are hypersensitive to topical preparations containing propylene glycol should be cautious when using Rhinaris, as it may produce local irritation. No other side effects have been reported.
